Albany, GA—The Albany State University women’s volleyball team released its 2024 schedule on Monday, July 29th. The season includes twenty-seven (27) matches, comprised of eight (8) home matches and three tournaments.
Veteran Head Coach, Verneice Graham, will lead her team as they kick off the season with a match against Middle Georgia State University on September 3rd inside HPER Complex. Following that, they will travel to Milledgeville, GA to take part in the two-day Bobcat Classic on September 6th and 7th, hosted by Georgia College & State University. After this brief road trip, the Lady Golden Rams will come back home to host the first SIAC Crossover Tournament of the season to start conference play on September 20th (Miles and Central State) and 21st (Kentucky State and Lane).
The Lady Golden Rams will return to action on the road to face conference foe Benedict College on October 4th and neighbor Allen University on October 5th, before heading to Macon, GA to compete in a non-conference match against Middle Georgia State University on October 8th.
ASU will remain on the road heading to Memphis, TN for the second SIAC Crossover Tournament, with matches against host LeMoyne Owen and Tuskegee University on October 11 and will conclude with a match versus Spring Hill College on Oct.12.
A return to the Peach State features a mid-season, conference contest with rival Fort Valley State (Oct.15), before taking a break off the road for a conference showdown at home with Clark Atlanta (Oct.16). The Lady Golden Rams next embark on a two-game league road trip with a stop in Savannah, GA versus Savannah State (Oct. 25), before heading to Jacksonville, FL to take on Edward Waters (Oct. 26).
ASU continues on the road for a match at Talladega College on October 28 before returning home to conclude non-conference play.
With six SIAC contests remaining on the schedule, Graham and the Lady Golden Rams will return home to the Peach State to host Edward Waters on November 1, Savannah State on November 2, Allen University on November 9, Benedict College for Senior Night on November 10, and Fort Valley State on November 12.
“We recently experienced a heartbreaking loss and we wish to pay tribute to the memory of Mari Creighton this season by dedicating a game to her,” shared by Graham. “Mari started her collegiate career at Benedict College, so in addition to Senior Day, we will honor her legacy within the team. Throughout the season, her jersey will have a place on the bench so that she remains with us always.”
The regular season with conclude with a final road trip to Atlanta, GA to play against Clark Atlanta on Nov. 14.
The 2024 Southern Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (SIAC) Volleyball Championship will be held Nov. 21-23.
